Cutting is a sport born of necessity and dates back to a time when ranchers in the American West hired cowboys to work and sort through herds of cattle out on the open range, separating those in need of branding or doctoring.
This piece shows the horse at it's best!  A cutting horse possesses an innate ability to anticipate or read a cow's intended moves
I tried to show the horse and calf in action. Each animal is 3 dimensional but the back is flat and hollowed so it is not too heavy and lays flat. The beads are 12mm round and are carved from Vegetable Ivory which is a hard white seed from South American Palm trees. This material resembles the look of  prohibited tusk ivory.  It is light weight and there is a clasp at each end.
